Prothin Contact Lenses
Are We Talking Protein Here?
Prothin contact lenses.
Are we talking about protein here? Because if we are, we are discussing
the bane of the contact lens user since the plastic hit your eye.
The proteins themselves come from the tears
in the eyes, and can start to deposit in a relatively short length
of time; within a week. If uncorrected, vision through the lens
can become impaired, and the contact lens user can risk infections
in the eye such as conjunctivitis.
The advent of disposable contact lenses does
negate this problem of course, as long as you do throw the lenses
away and do not try and keep them for a little longer. Since a clean
lens is always inserted, protein build up on the lens will never
be an issue.
However, if you don't have disposable lenses,
then you must follow a strict hygienic routine to ensure that your
lenses and your eyes remain clean.
| • |
Always wash your hands with an approved, mom perfumed cleaner.
The perfume can hurt your eyes. |
| • |
Use approved solutions to soak the lenses in. If in doubt,
consult a professional. |
| • |
Keep your storage cases clean too. It's no good cleaning your
lenses if you only go and put them in a dirty storage case. |
If you do find that you are getting a protein build up on your lenses,
then you will need a protein remover. This will involve soaking
your lenses in another solution. Please ensure that you clean the
protein remover off the lenses BEFORE you place them in your eyes.
Protein remover solutions may well cause irritation to your eyes
if not cleaned properly.
